Minimal win PSV O13 over Twente
For the second time in a week, PSV O13 recorded a victory over FC Twente. After 60 minutes, the scoreboard eventually read 0-1. Although the victory was deserved, it came about somewhat fortuitously.
PSV started the match strongly and had a great chance to make it 0-1 within five minutes. After a beautiful move, Samuel Gomez was brought down in the penalty area, which earned him a penalty kick. Eus Waayers did not have his sights set straight yet, however, and saw his penalty stopped by the Twente goalkeeper. The young Eindhoven players continued to dominate with good positional play, but midway through the first half the game tilted. Twente was able to play better under the pressure, creating a number of threats from the flanks. This did not result in any major chances, however. As PSV could not create anything in this phase either, both teams went to the dressing rooms without a goal.
PSV took the lead five minutes after the break. Wessel Kuhn received the ball 20 meters outside the penalty area and shot at goal from long range. His effort hit the head of Eus, which put the Twente goalkeeper on the wrong foot and the ball plopped in at the far post: 0-1. After this goal, Twente went in search of the equalizer, but the Eindhoven defense held up easily. In fact, PSV themselves created the best chances to double the score, but Robin van Duiven and Samuel both missed with eye-to-eye contact and Raf van de Riet saw his goal disallowed for offside.
Since PSV did not get into any more trouble, the three points eventually went with them to Brabant. Next week follows another away game for the team, when it visits Spartaan'20.
