This week it was the turn of PSV E1 to face the training team of FC Eindhoven. We were promised sunshine and a reasonable temperature, but how different it turned out in reality. The match started in drizzling weather with wind and rain. The first minutes it was a bit of a scramble with a seemingly brighter Eindhoven. They also got the first chance of the match. From a corner they had a good shot on goal but Kyan managed to punch the ball away.
After this warning our men came off well. With good teamwork they put the opponent under pressure. After a wonderful action by Arne in midfield, Roland got the ball. The ball was nicely passed to the fast running Arne. His shot just missed the goal.
In about the 5th minute (the timekeeper was a bit bothered by the cold) the pressure became too much for Eindhoven. Koen played to Niels, who reached the free Arne. His shot was unreachable for the goalkeeper 1 - 0.
Soon after, Roland got the ball via a throw-in. He played himself free with a nice action and scored the 2 - 0.
The interplay of PSV was a feast for the eyes. A quick combination between Joey, Roland and Arne, produced a chance that was only just headed wide.
A quick break by Eindhoven on the right side brought danger. At first, Kyan was able to save with his feet. But the striker of Eindhoven reacted well and shot the ball out of the turn behind our goalkeeper 2 - 1.
However, our boys were not impressed and Eindhoven had to go further and further back. From a pass from Joop, Roland played the ball through to the Koen who ran along. He rounded a defender and shot the ball neatly into the far corner. 3 -1.
Almost immediately from the resumption of play the ball came to Tijn. His swerving shot was well caught by the Eindhoven goalie. By fierce chasing the ball, it was quickly recovered. The resulting corner was taken by Niels. Along the line it was said that he should not put the ball so far away. But that was premeditated. He curled the ball suddenly towards the Eindhoven goal. The keeper tried to save the ball but to no avail, 4 - 1. This was also the score at halftime.
The break had obviously done Eindhoven good. They started the second half brighter and had some advantage. A shot from Eindhoven was saved by Kyan. He put the ball back into play. The ball was picked up by Eindhoven and they set up a good attack. The sharp cross from the right could be blocked with one hand by Kyan, like a real pro.
Then the PSV boys thought it was enough. The 5 -1 was scored from a beautiful solo action. Two Eindhoven defenders were put on the wrong foot by Joop, after which the goalkeeper was also left defenseless.
Moments later an attack is set up by Tijn. He plays Niels, who reaches Arne with a perfectly fitting pass. He sees Roland standing free in front of the goal. He knows what to do with such an opportunity and scores the 6 - 1.
PSV continues to give Eindhoven a hard time and keeps up good pressure forward. After some headers in the defense, Joey sees his chance. He tried to score with a hard volley, but the shot hit the crossbar. Fortunately the ball fell at his feet again immediately, and he was able to score after all, bringing the tally to 7 - 1.
For Joey this apparently tastes like more because moments later he is alone in front of the goalie. With a beautiful lob he outsmarted the goalkeeper, but unfortunately the ball hit the bar.
The final score was 7 - 1, and the spectators enjoyed a good and heartwarming match.
