After the first whistle, Sparta immediately put pressure on PSV's defense, initially not getting a grip on the opponent. After about four minutes PSV came out from under the pressure and got away from their own half. But from a long ball, which was crossed, Sparta made it 0-1. After the opening goal, the Rotterdammers dropped back a bit on their own half and left the initiative to PSV. The first chance came after 15 minutes of play from Yorbe Vertessen, who headed the ball onto the post.

PSV continued to press to force the equalizer. The second opportunity to do so was again for Vertessen, who unfortunately did not get the ball across the goal line after an assist from Beslan Sagov. At that point, 20 minutes had been played. In the ^29th minute, Mohammed Amine Ihattaren gave a deep ball to Yorbe Vertessen, who ran straight at goal and made it 1-1. PSV put Sparta under increasing pressure and had more and more chances to make it 2-1. A free kick by Ihattaren from the right side was headed towards goal by Damian Timan, but the Sparta goalkeeper just managed to catch it. In the ^39th minute Mohammed Amin Ihattaren took another free kick from the right side and this time it was a goal. The goal was scored by Sagov: 2-1.

PSV started the second half well and Sparta Rotterdam was pinned down in their own half, but a third goal did not come initially. After the break, there were significantly fewer opportunities and the game looked like it was going to end in a 2-1 win. But in the ^77th minute Timan scored the 3-1 and so the PSV - Sparta Rotterdam match ended in a nice win for PSV O17.
