After years we are back on the Dike in Volendam. Today we have to get the points to stay in the left row.
We started the match well on a beautiful late summer's day. After seven minutes Dante played a clever ball to Dani and scored the 0-1.
Fully deserved and now we want more. We do have a lot of ball possession but the last pass is not always clean and so we go into the break with a lead. A deserved lead but a small one. So we will have to score more goals. That is the approach for the second half. It has to be said that Volendam did not really get any big chances to say the least. On the bench it is quiet and there is actually no pressure that the counter goal will fall although you never know at this score. As the game draws to a close there is a bit more space, also for Volendam, but the small chances are not finished off. After 93 minutes the score is still 0-1 and when the referee whistles the points are in the bus. Deserved victory. We were not really in danger, but still a 0-1 score is always dangerous because one time a ball goes wrong and the points are gone. Fortunately Volendam were not in a position to do that today but we will have to be sharper and more alert in front of goal for the rest of the league, otherwise we will lose points here and there (unnecessarily).
Next Tuesday we leave for Moscow to play CSKA in the Youth Champions League. So a busy week, because on Saturday Feyenoord will be at the Herdgang again to try to take some points back to the city.
