First of all, a correction to the previous report. It mentioned NAC but should of course be FC Utrecht. Apologies for that.
Today it is NAC. To stay in the top three we had to win today.
During the warm-up it was a bit of a shock when Benjamin van Leer fell to the ground in pain because he twisted his ankle.
Nigel Bertrams was his replacement and played a flawless game.
The start was a lively game in which the game went up and down but when NAC had a chance Nigel stood his ground.
After a nice attack on the left the ball came to Peter van Ooijen who went inside and fired a hard shot which the goalkeeper couldn't quite control and there stood Anthony van den Hurk to tap the ball in. We had then played 20 minutes.
The score remained the same until halftime because just before halftime the NAC goalkeeper was able to handle a shot by Peter van Ooijen.
After halftime it was NAC that had to come out if they wanted to get a good result, and according to the coach this was our chance to increase the score.
And lo and behold, once again the coach was right.
We continued to play football, passing the ball around quickly and not handling the long ball.
After a flowing fast executed attack, it was Anthony van den Hurk who was at the base and Elvio van Overbeek who shot the 0 - 2.
It was time to make some substitutions.
Elvio shot the 0 - 3 after a very good pass from Jorn Sweres. Also the 0 - 4 from Marco Ospitalieri came after a good pass again Jorn.
A deserved victory and the top three remains in the picture.
Next week (Carnival) Saturday at home against Heerenveen (another direct competitor) at half past 12.
We wish Benjamin a speedy recovery.
Heard last week in the boardroom: In such cases you see that eleven out of ten referees put the ball on the dot.
Nigel Bertrams, Dennis Dengering, Maikel Verkoelen ('77 Menno Koch), Robert Oepkes, Tufan Ozbozkurt, Rinke Pennings, Elvio van Overbeek ('77 David Silva), Marco Ospitalieri, Anthony van den Hurk ('64 Jurgen Locadia), Milos Djordjevic(´64 Jorn Sweres), Peter van Ooijen (´74 Gianluca Maria)
