The report
Today another match was scheduled against Vitesse O19 from Arnhem. Only this time it was to reach the next round of the cup tournament. PSV's first chance was an immediate hit, a corner kick by Noni Madueke was neatly headed in in the sixth minute by the free-standing Gregory Kuisch. And the second chance was also an immediate hit. A cross from the same Noni Madueke landed on the head of the incoming Mathias Kjolo.
Thus, Ruud van Nistelrooy's team took a 2-0 lead within eleven minutes. PSV continued to play nice football and created more good chances to extend the lead. A nice attack in the 28th minute ended up with Kjolo, only his shot was turned away by the goalkeeper. Not much later it was Mees krekels who from a corner kick extended the ball with his head at the first post, unfortunately there was nobody at the second post to shoot the ball in. Just before halftime it was Madueke who put himself free in front of the goalie with a nice feint. Unfortunately his shot did not go through the keeper into the goal. Thus we rested with a well-deserved 2-0 lead.
The second half began with a much brighter Vitesse and the Arnheimers immediately put PSV's defense under pressure. A shot by a Vitesse player just went past via a PSV defender in the 48th minute. In the 58th minute, the Arnhemmers were awarded a free kick on the edge of the sixteen-meter area. This was shot well into the far corner of the goal. PSV made some substitutions and gave some PSV O17 players the opportunity to get some minutes at a higher level. With a lot of fighting spirit and willingness to go through fire and water for each other, PSV O19 held out until the final signal. And reached the last eight of the cup.
The next match is for the league. Then we will play the topper against Ajax at our own Herdgang, the match will start at 14.00 hours.
