The report
After two lost games in the championship pool, we played Utrecht today. Prior to the game we were tied in the standings. So now the points had to be taken. After the snow and cold, the weather today was bearable and we were ready for it.
The start was fast and the game went up and down the field. There was plenty to see, just not the chances yet. However, there was fight all over the field and the game kept moving from goal to goal. So entertaining, but far from good. After a ball just wide of our goal, Utrecht was actually the most dangerous and at the stroke of half-time Utrecht's number 11 managed to shoot the ball in with a lucky shot out of reach of our goalkeeper, via the inside post. This put the 1-0 score on the board.
So after halftime we would have to roll up our sleeves and go all out to take a point or more. And within a minute, Mylian got the ball outside the sixteen and bowled it through the legs of a defender into the net, 1-1. We tried to turn the tide with some substitutions, but the rest of the match showed a picture of not really good football, but of a team that wanted to fight together and also wanted to get a result together. After some more injury time, the referee whistled for the last time. A draw on the board that both teams could be satisfied with and so we, like Utrecht, were rid of the nasty zero, but were still next to each other in the league table.
