The report
In the 11th round of play, PSV O15 took on Vitesse at home. In doing so, the Eindhoven team faced an opponent that so far performed less in the league than expected. With 11 points, the Arnheimers took 9th place. Nevertheless: no reason to expect an easy game.
The first opportunity was for Vitesse in the sixth minute. Goalkeeper Aron van Lare simply turned the effort away. PSV struggled to find the right cadence today. Only after 15 minutes of play did the team threaten for the first time. Jasper Huijzer shot a clever cross from Nawaaz Landfeld wide. PSV seemed to have found the key to success and three points. Because in the space of a few minutes they strung together a number of chances. But Milan van de Riet first saw his shot defused by the Arnhem goalkeeper, and a little later his header went just wide of the wrong side of the post. Because another minute later Dyon Dorenbosch, after a good attack, looked for the goal with his left just too high, the counter remained at zero. The same was true for Vitesse, who became dangerous on the counterattack. Fortunately Aron was able to save again.
After Dylan Hopman saw his header go just wide via the head of an Arnhem player as well, PSV did take the lead in the 32nd minute. The duo of Mohamed Nassoh and Dyon Dorenbosch took a short corner and the cross was shot hard by Jenson Seelt. The ball ended up in a mishmash of players in the five-meter area where Dylan saw the ball land at his feet and took a hard shot. On the goal line a Vitesse player turned the ball away with his arm. Penalty for PSV and Milan van de Riet took advantage of this opportunity and scored the opening goal in a very controlled manner. Just before half time Mohamed almost scored the 2-0 with a curling shot, but his long distance shot went just wide of the crossbar. At halftime the score was 1-0.
After the break, PSV was clearly the superior team. In the 39th minute, they launched a brilliant attack. Dyon opened beautifully with a cross ball to Jasper, who then beat his opponent and crossed well. At the far post Milan looked to score the 2-0, but he did not hit the ball well and the big Arnhem goalie saved the goal. The second goal came four minutes later. Right back D'Leanu Arts passed the ball well deep to Milan, who reached the back line and laid the ball back. A Vitesse player seemed to recognize the danger and made a save by shooting the ball away. However, because he shot the ball exactly against Mylian Jimenez the ball still ended up in the goal: 2-0. Twenty minutes before time, the final score was reached. PSV quickly switched gears and Milan enabled the along rushed Jasper to score Eindhoven's third. Because the home team was a bit sloppy or unfortunate in finishing, the 3-0 was also on the scoreboard after 70 minutes. A fine result with some more nice statistics: PSV kept the zero for the 4th consecutive game and two players scored their first league goal today: Mylian and Jasper.
Next week follows the topper at and against leaders AZ. Followed by two more matches against North Hollanders before the winter break: the surprising number 4 FC Volendam and AFC (friendly).
