PSV played a fine game against Willem II, with PSV not letting the visitors get into the match for a moment. After a halftime score of 5-0, the home club eventually won 8-0.
PSV got off to an energetic start. In the first minute, PSV already had two chances to open the score, but both were not taken advantage of. A few minutes later, the visitors had their first good chance. After a nice through ball, a Willem II player came alone in front of the PSV goalie, but he was unable to take advantage of the opportunity. PSV played at a high tempo and quickly put the visitors under pressure. In the ninth minute, this resulted in the first goal of the match. Now Sven Simons gave a nice through ball to Ruben van Bommel. His shot was turned away by the Willem II goalkeeper, allowing Jesper Uneken to head the ball in, 1-0. A few minutes later Chahid el Allachi intercepted a kick from the Willem II goalie and calmly shot the ball in, 2-0. PSV was in control of the game but sometimes handed the ball in too quickly because they played too hastily. Nevertheless, PSV made it 3-0 in the 20th minute. Iggy Houben played the ball to Livano Comenencia. His shot was blocked by the Willem II goalie, but Jesper Uneken reacted alertly and tapped in the 3-0. The match was already played. Willem II was to be commended for continuing to play and not parking the bus in front of their own goal. PSV kept looking for more goals and in the last five minutes of the first half PSV was able to score two more goals. Willem II played more compactly from the beginning of the second half, but this did not prevent PSV from continuing the line of the first half. In the 41st minute, a Milan Govaers cross finally reached Jaivy Lourens. With a hard shot into the far corner, he fired in the 6-0. Three minutes later, PSV extended the lead further. A nice cross from Matteo Dams was headed back on the back line by Ruben van Bommel. Jesper Uneken was then able to score his third goal of the match and give PSV a 7-0 lead. One minute later, Willem II had a chance for a goal. The visitor's shot from the edge of the box went over via the crossbar. PSV played well-cared-for football in the second half and managed to create several chances. However, several nice attacks were not completed effectively. In the 66th minute, PSV put the final score on the scoreboard. A long ball from Milan Govaers reached Sven Simons. With a nice lob over the goalkeeper he scored the 8-0.
