Due to the necessity of shifting players, the O16 started Saturday with no less than 7 C-players in the starting line-up against the traditionally physically strong FC Groningen where most players faced a direct opponent that was at least 2 heads taller and based on the physical preponderance could be expected that Groningen would overrun PSV, PSV held their own excellently and the match ended in a creditable draw.

Based on the field play and especially the chance ratio in the 1st half, PSV could even claim the most victory out of both teams. Cody opened the scoring after just over 10 minutes when, after a 1-2 with Sekou and with some help from the Groningen goalkeeper, he shot the ball into the right corner. After Jordan had to leave the field injured in the 17th minute and was replaced by Joep, making it the 6th C-player on the field, Groningen equalized from a stoppage time situation from which the ball eventually fell to the feet of the striker who shot hard from close range. Less than 10 minutes later the same striker scored the 1-2 for Groningen from a standard situation from which the ball fell in front of him on the 5-meter line. In the 5 minutes that remained until halftime, PSV still had a number of great chances to equalize and even take the lead, but Sekou and Cody did not have their sights sharp enough. In the injury time of the first half, Koen scored the deserved equalizer after a cross from Gaétan.

In the 2nd half little would change in the game and nothing in the score. Apart from a good self-created chance by Cody in the 51st minute that was foiled by the goalkeeper and, at the other end, a nice save by Youri who whipped a long-distance shot out of the crossbar, neither team was really dangerous anymore and PSV held their own.
