    The report

On Saturday, August 25, the match for the Super Cup was scheduled. This match was between the champion PSV O19 and the cup winner Feyenoord O19. The clash was played at the Herdgang and both teams had a new coach on the bench. At PSV Ruud van Nistelrooy and at Feyenoord Dirk Kuijt.

The first 20 minutes were a bit of a scramble and some pinpricks were exchanged. So there were no real chances. It was Feyenoord that had the first serious opportunity in the 21st minute. After a well played counter, the shot went just past Kyan van Dorp's goal. In the 24th minute it was a shot by Davy van den Berg that went just past. Feyenoord took a free kick on the edge of the penalty area in the 26th minute and Van Dorp turned the shot away. In the rebound a Feyenoord player slid the ball just wide. After a Feyenoord foul on the edge of the penalty area, Mohammed Amine Ihattaren got behind the ball. His free kick went through the wall, but the Feyenoord goalkeeper's fingertips just caught it and turned it into a corner. Van Dorp made a good save to prevent PSV from going behind in the 40th minute. After PSV captured the ball in midfield, now in the 44th minute, it was Ihattaren who took a devastating shot from twenty-five meters from the goal. This shot went only narrowly wide. Yet PSV let themselves be surprised in injury time. A rehearsed corner kick was laid ready on the edge of the sixteen meters. The shot disappeared into the far corner, behind Van Dorp. Thus, PSV went to rest with a 0-1 deficit.

PSV started the game nicely after halftime. It was Sekou Sidibe who cut inside from the right and had to watch as his shot was turned away by the goalkeeper inside the penalty area. In the 54 minute it was Yorbe Vertessen who took advantage of a wrong pass in the Feyenoord half. On the back line he just didn't put the ball down well for the incoming Ihattaren. In the 62nd minute Vertessen got off the wrong foot of a couple of Feyenoord players from the left and played the ball to Ihattaren. He put the ball in front of his left and shot the ball into the top corner. After that it was Feyenoord again that could be found in front of the PSV goal. But two good saves from Van Dorp kept the score at 1-1. A quickly taken free kick gave Feyenoord a 1-2 lead. After this setback the PSV boys showed resilience and that resulted in a great chance for Damian Timan in the 76th minute. His placed ball was just caught by the goalkeeper. The pressure continued. A long ball from Rico Zeegers ended up with the free Vertessen, who did not hesitate and lifted the ball over the goalkeeper: 2-2. The score was tied again in the 83rd minute. But PSV could not enjoy this equalizer for long. It was Feyenoord that scored the deserved 2-3 just before time. And they took the cup back to Rotterdam.

On Saturday, September 1, the league starts for PSV O19. The kickoff is at 14.30 in Heerenveen.

Lineup PSV: Van Dorp, Kuisch, Daverveld (57, Kreekels) Zeegers, Vos (82, Horvath), Oostenbrink, Van Den Berg (70, Timan), Sidibe, Ihattaren, Vertessen and Thomas.
