    The report

The last Saturday of August saw the first official game for the new O15 squad. At their own De Herdgang, the team of trainers Edwin de Wijs and Anthony Lurling received Almere City as part of the first cup round.

The first feat of the match came in the 4th minute. After a pass from Ruben van Bommel, Iggy Houben curled the ball wide. The home team missed two more opportunities in the first quarter of an hour, but was finally successful in the 16th minute. A good individual action by Iggy was the basis of an own goal by an Almere City defender. Ten minutes later Iggy thought he had scored the 2-0 when he squeezed in a free kick from Ruben at the far post. But apparently he did this from an offside position so his goal was cancelled. A few minutes later Iggy hit the post so the margin remained one goal. As befits a real cup game, the underdog surprisingly equalized just before halftime. A high deep ball fell between PSV's last line and goalkeeper who then communicated insufficiently. As a result, an Eindhoven defender headed the ball over his own goalkeeper who was running out and slowly rolled the ball into his own goal. Just after the equalizer, goalkeeper Kjell Peersman even had to pull out all the stops to save an effort from the Almere left-winger. Because the Almere City goalkeeper also made a fabulous save on a close-range effort from Jesper Uneken just before halftime, both teams went to the dressing room with a goal each.

Immediately after halftime, PSV brought the score to 2-1. A good cross from left back Koen Jansen ended up with Iggy who cut the ball to his right leg and simply put PSV back in the lead. This gave PSV wings and it created a number of opportunities. However, it did not score until the 44th minute when Iggy picked up the ball and laid it wide at the right moment to Jesper who put the 3-1 on the scoreboard. Game played you'd say based on the play. But Almere did not give up and got a penalty in the 49th minute (rightly) when the ball landed on the hand of a PSV player after a free kick. The outside chance was easily converted into a goal so that ineena still became exciting. However, no more goals were scored. Partly because efforts by Jaivy Lourens and Chahid el Allachi failed to find a goal.

PSV rightly won this first, official match and thus continues in the cup. For the trainers there were also many starting points to dot the i's this season. Next week follows the first league match: Ajax away.

Setup: Kjell Peersman; Livano Comenencia, Luc Netten, Yaël Gil y Muinos, Koen Jansen; Lars Putters (48' Milan Govaers), Sven Simons, Chahid el Allachi; Iggy Houben, Jesper Uneken (53' Shi-jon Martina), Ruben van Bommel (60' Jaivy Lourens).

    Yellow card: Jesper Uneken
