PSV DROPS POINTS IN LISBON!
PSV got off to a strong start. Within ten minutes, Geraldo Antonio twice stood eye to eye with the Sporting goalkeeper, but he intervened well both times. PSV controlled the game and came up with some well set-up attacks.
Yet it was Sporting that took the lead. A cross from the back line was missed by everyone except the Sporting striker who ran the ball in. PSV remained calm and after about half an hour Moussa Sanoh came through on the right and shot the ball into the bottom left corner.
Sporting started to play a bit brighter, which Rai Vloet and Elvio van Overbeek experienced.
After halftime, Sporting came on and PSV clearly struggled. Jesse Bertrams saw a shot hit the post but moments later the ball slipped from his hand and Mané was able to register 2-1.
PSV did not give in. Elvio van Overbeek came through on the left and his cross landed on the head of Pinto, who headed in hard: 2-2!
PSV was satisfied with this point, but Sporting was not. A shot into the corner of the goal left Jesse Betrams defenseless. 3-2. PSV went all out for the equalizer but in doing so neglected the defense. It became 4-2 but that did not do justice to PSV's good play.
