  1. Match report

Today the league match against ADO was scheduled. Both teams had lost both previous league games so today surely either team would get their first points.

After a good start by PSV, the first chance in the match was for ADO in the seventh minute. However, the shot went just over. PSV combined well at times but also made many wrong choices. As a result, PSV could not really control the match. PSV had to stay alert, because ADO used the long ball several times, allowing ADO to become dangerous. In the 17th minute the home team took the lead. A deep ball put an ADO player free in front of Kevin and he was able to shoot into the far corner to make it 1-0. PSV played with too little pace and could hardly create any chances. PSV also did not win enough duels so ADO was hardly in trouble. With the home team leading 1-0, both teams went into the break.

After some changes at halftime, PSV started the second half with new enthusiasm. The pace in the beginning of the second half was still too slow, but PSV created some opportunities to score. PSV put ADO under pressure early and the home club barely got off their own half. In the 48th minute, PSV equalized. A goal kick by the ADO goalie was played by Mylian to Milan van de Riet. Milan played himself free and tapped in the 1-1. PSV then slowed down a bit and this immediately gave ADO a chance. An ADO player broke through the defense but it was Nawaaz who stopped the ADO player in front of the penalty area with a light foul. The free kick was headed off the goal line by Martijn. In the last ten minutes of the match, PSV pushed one more time to take the spoils back to Eindhoven. PSV got several corners and one corner was shot straight into the goal by Mylian 1-2. ADO now went all out to force the equalizer. This resulted in an exciting final phase with chances back and forth. However, neither team scored anymore so the Eindhoven side could take home the three points.

PSV made it unnecessarily difficult for themselves in this match. By playing at too low a tempo and being sloppy in passing, the match remained exciting until the last minute. In the end, PSV pulled the longest straw and took their first points of this season.
