    The Report

The very last league game for the O15 was scheduled Wednesday night. Because Ajax won from AFC the day before, the Amsterdammers were unbeatable and won the national title. Congratulations on winning the national championship!

PSV thus played a day later and therefore knew that nothing was at stake during the duel with sc Heerenveen. It could neither drop nor rise in the rankings. And so played for honor and to end the season positively.

The first opportunity of the match was for Heerenveen in the second minute. However, the Frisian guests could not find the net. Something PSV was able to do in the sixth minute. Heritier Deyonge linked up well with an attack and played Jeremy Antonisse on the right. His cross was tailor-made for Jur Clabbers, who easily scored the 1-0. PSV remained the better footballing team, but failed to extend the lead. Chances for Jayden Braaf and Jeremy Antonisse were not converted into goals and the margin remained small at one goal. Just before halftime the 2-0 came. A sensitive pass from Joep Kluskens ended up with Jur who shot the ball past the goalkeeper with an equally sensitive and subtle movement. It almost became 3-0 when just before halftime Thomas Cox stepped up and his shot and cross hit the woodwork at the far post.

After halftime, the level fell back. Nevertheless, PSV still managed to hit the woodwork twice. First it was Jayden who shot hard at the crossbar. Later, Jeremy hit the post with a free kick. Heerenveen also had a couple of big chances in the second half to score the tying goal. But partly due to excellent goalkeeping by Peter Strijbosch in a one-on-one duel with the Frisian striker, the guests did not score. As a result, PSV again kept the score zero and could add three points after a moderate game.

Some figures about this season: 26 league games: 19 wins, 5 draws and only 2 defeats eventually yielded 62 points. The goal difference: 80 goals scored and only 23 against. Twelve times the defense kept the zero, nine times a PSV player received a yellow card and once a player had to leave the field with two yellow cards. Top scorer was Jayden Braaf with 21 goals. All this was ultimately good for second place in a league in which at times beautiful football was played. I wish all players, parents and others involved a very happy vacation season!
