Good victory over Excelsior
PSV O13 have been unable to keep up the level of play in the last few games. Today the boys showed that they are making steps in their development, both halves PSV was on top. Even after PSV goalkeeper Tijn Smolenaars was sent off with a red card in the 45th minute, PSV continued to create chances. Excelsior Rotterdam had no answer to the good PSV play, which was deservedly rewarded with a 2-0 victory.
PSV started the match energetically, in the 3rd minute this resulted in a great chance for Emir Bars. Unfortunately this chance did not go in, the ball splattered on the crossbar. Despite the good play and several small chances, the fans had to wait until the 27th minute before PSV opened the scoring. After a nice cross from Emir Bars, it was Tim van de Heuvel who managed to pass the ball at the back line. Now it was a piece of cake for the birthday boy Michon Roelofs to work the ball into the net. PSV could rest with a deserved 1-0 lead.
Since PSV O13 went way back out in the second half the last few games, everyone was curious to see how the players would fare this time. But this time, PSV remained the superior side and managed to fend off Excelsior's sparse counters early on. In the 45th minute it was Tim Smolenaars who managed to fend off an Excelsior counter. The player who broke through was defused on the side of the 16-meter area. The referee on duty saw a red card, so PSV had to continue with ten men. The Eindhoven backs were righted and they continued to go for the win. Excelsior failed to take advantage of the field advantage and PSV just kept going for the 2-0. In the 59th minute, the door locked completely after Tim van de Heuvel worked the ball into the goal after another good attack. The 2-0 victory was in and the points stayed in Eindhoven.
A deserved victory today, but certainly the play shown deserved a compliment. But also Eus Waayers and Brian van de Boogaard, players of the Fundament, had shown that they can handle a step higher. Next week against JVOZ, PSV can again show that they can indeed dominate a match in its entirety.
