The Report
In the third league round, PSV O15 faced their Heerenveen peers at their own Herdgang stadium. The home team had four points after a draw and victory against N.E.C. and Almere City respectively. Heerenveen gained one point so far by losing to ADO Den Haag and a draw against Den Bosch. To stay on top, it was important for PSV to keep the three points in Eindhoven.
The early stages, however, were uncontested for the guests. PSV did not get to play football and was unable to keep the ball in the team for long periods of time. Heerenveen had the most ball possession, played easier football, but could not create any danger either. When PSV took the lead out of nowhere after 15 minutes of play, the game turned on its head. Striker Milan van de Riet opened the scoring after excellent passing by Dylan Hopman on the right flank. Before half time the home team made it 2-0 when Mohamed Nassoh pushed in a rebound. At first Jasper Huijzer hit the Heerenveen goalkeeper, but as he let go of the ball Mohamed was able to score.
After halftime, PSV was clearly the stronger team. In the 44th minute, the Eindhoven team put the 3-0 on the scoreboard. Although: it was not a PSV player who scored, but a Frisian who worked a corner from Mohamed past his own goalkeeper. With that, the game was played. PSV created several more opportunities and managed to score three more goals. Jesse Giebels cleverly headed in a corner from Mylian Jimenez, and the final chord came from striker Milan who first scored the 5-0 with his left and finally the 6-0 after an assist from Cel Teunen. Despite the difficult start, PSV still won convincingly by big numbers. Next week a match at FC Twente away.
Unfortunately, a player from Heerenveen injured his ankle just before halftime. We hope the injury is not too bad and wish him a speedy recovery.
