PSV O19 got to go to Alkmaar for the second time in a short time to play a match against AZ O19. Where at the beginning of the season the cup match was on the schedule, today PSV O19 got to take on them for the league.
First half:
PSV started the match excellently, with Matthias Verreth opening the scoring after only 3 minutes. An attack through the right was well passed by Dani to Matthias, who shot the 0-1!
After the opening goal, PSV was searching for a while, but towards the 10th minute of the match PSV got more and more superiority in the match. In the 8th minute, PSV looked to attack again with Jaëll Hattu taking the AZ goalkeeper under fire. The ball was then cleared off the line, after which Martijn Berden shot the ball at the post! The score was still 0-1! From that moment on, AZ is increasingly in possession of the ball. After a good attack by the home team, they score the equalizer (1-1) in the 15th minute.
A few minutes after the equalizer another good PSV attack comes from the side of PSV where Martijn's shot ends up just beside the goal. After this, the game went back and forth without any real chances for either team. After AZ failed to convert a small chance into a goal, PSV again came close. Matthias Verreth attacked and Jaëll's shot was denied by the AZ goalkeeper. In the rebound Dani kicks the ball over the goal.
We are now in the 37th minute of the first half when PSV makes another attempt. A shot by Dani is turned into a corner. Unfortunately, the corner kick delivers nothing. In the last minute of the first half, AZ tried again with a good shot, but this did not result in a goal.
Thus, both teams go to rest with a score of 1-1!
Second half:
The beginning of the second half shows that AZ has a bit more superiority and has come out of the break a bit better. Especially in the midfield they are a bit stronger in this phase! Still, in the 56th minute it is Dante who intercepts the ball in midfield and allows Matthias to shoot at goal. This one unfortunately goes wide! A few minutes later it is again Dani who heads the ball at goal, forcing the AZ goalkeeper to make a save. Again through good preparatory work by Matthias!
When PSV gets a free kick in the 68th minute, it is still a hit for PSV! Philippe Rommens works the free kick into the 16 meter, after which Dani can shoot the ball inside! PSV again on lead in Alkmaar! Unfortunately, AZ does not appear to be resigned to this. With fifteen minutes to play, AZ comes up with another good attack, resulting in a header from an AZ player! Yanick saves well though! A minute later, however, Yanick cannot prevent AZ from equalizing. From the rebound the ball is shot in by AZ! The score is tied again. PSV still tries to take the 3 points back to Eindhoven, and after the equalizer they have a bit more dominance with several small chances. Yet in the 86th minute, AZ created their first real chance. The shot went wide of Yanick's goal. The game seemed to be heading for a draw, although AZ stepped up the pressure. In the 92nd minute, Yanick was able to turn away an AZ shot, but in the very last minute of the match, things still went wrong! An AZ cross through the middle ended up with the AZ striker, who shot the ball inside! In extremis AZ wins the match after having fallen behind twice. PSV returns to Eindhoven empty-handed again after visiting Alkmaar!
PSV O19 gets another opportunity to recover next Saturday, when they visit FC Volendam. Starting time 14.30 hrs!
