PSV O13 takes point in Amsterdam

In an evenly matched match, PSV O13 took a point in the topper against Ajax. The team gave little away and had opportunities in the second half, but failed to score more than once.

The first half was balanced in terms of chances. Opponent Ajax had the ball a lot, but failed to create any real chances with it. Eindhoven had chances on the counter attack, but often made sloppy choices in the final stages. As a result, both teams went to rest with a 0-0 score.

Just after halftime, the Amsterdammers were awarded a penalty kick. The striker was sent deep and was taken to the ground illegally. Goalkeeper Daan van de Brande chose the wrong corner, giving Ajax the lead. After this goal, PSV became increasingly bold. The Eindhoven players found the free man more easily and could regularly become dangerous through Jayden Ettienne. Ten minutes before time this almost resulted in success. The outside right rushed past his opponent and was pulled to the ground: penalty kick. Unfortunately for PSV, Raf van de Riet shot the ball over, leaving the score unchanged.

A minute later the goal was scored. A kick from goalkeeper Daan van de Brande was badly handled, bringing Eus Waayers face to face with the Ajax goalkeeper. The left winger remained calm and subtly lifted the ball over the goalkeeper, bringing the signs back into balance. Moments later, PSV was close to a lead, but both Eus Waayers and Julian van Esdonk just couldn't reach a Jayden Ettienne cross. This was also the last feat of the match.

Despite PSV O13 taking a deserved point at De Toekomst, they could have done better. Next week the team plays again in Noord-Holland, when it visits AZ.
