On an icy cold Sportcomplex de Herdgang, PSV could become champion today. To become champion, they had to beat Willem II/RKC.
PSV showed from the first whistle that they wanted to become champions today. They immediately put Willem II/RKC under pressure and did not get the opportunity to defend calmly. In the sixth minute this already yielded a lead. A cross from Beslan came at the feet of Yorbe. He did not miss this opportunity and shot the 1-0. PSV continued in the same vein and in the first fifteen minutes there were several opportunities to extend the lead. However, these opportunities were not taken. In the 17th minute it was back on track. Again the cross came from Beslan. Thijs' subsequent effort was turned away by the Willem II/RKC goalkeeper. The ball landed at the feet of Damian who scored the 2-0. In the remaining part of the first half there were some nice combinations and attacks by the PSV players. However, no more goals were scored in the remaining part of the first half.
In the second half, Willem II/RKC started putting pressure earlier. PSV continued to play carefully but no real chances were created in the second half. PSV did not give away any chances either so the lead was never in danger. The half-time score of 2-0 was the final score.
After the final whistle the party started. First of all, the players thanked the crowd that had once again braved the icy cold today. Then the party moved from the field to the locker room and finally to the canteen.
PSV has won all its league games to date. With 90 goals for and only 13 goals against, PSV is the rightful champion in the second division C.
