PSV received a warm welcome today in Hurwenen, Gelderland. At the entrance the local television station was making a report. The cameraman chased us, incidentally with good intentions, into the dressing room. Also, the whole village had turned out to support the home team. Despite the harsh cold and the mediocre pitch, the match started excellently for PSV. After 7 minutes, PSV took the lead through a goal by Joep.
Joep was able to eliminate his opponent from the right with a nice passing move and managed to put the ball into the far corner with a slide 0-1. Shortly afterwards it became 0-2 through a long distance shot by Mylian. PSV had a few more chances to decide the game before half time. Unfortunately these chances were not taken but PSV did not give anything away to their opponent.
Half-time score 0 - 2.
Also after the break, PSV was the better team but failed to extend the score. PSV had six 100% chances in the second half. However, the Hurwenen goalie was often in the way and when the goalie was beaten, we were not sharp enough in finishing. If you fail to score, the opponent succeeds. After 40 minutes it was 1-2 from a counter. The home team started to believe that they could still get points today. Not much later it was almost equal but good goalkeeping by Lander prevented this. PSV continued to combine well and play motivated. PSV took the win 1-2.
PSV showed great football again today. The positional play was top again and you helped each other in difficult situations. Well done and compliments to everyone. A well deserved victory for PSV. After the match we were invited to the canteen where the local bakery had placed a beautiful cake with the Hurwenen and PSV logos on it. Of course we could not refuse this invitation.
