Chance-missing PSV O13 and Utrecht in balance
Despite a good first half, PSV O13 failed to win the away match at FC Utrecht. In Domstad the match ended as it started: 0-0. Given the large amount of chances, this can safely be called a miracle.
The Eindhoven players started the match strongly and got a big chance early on. Jayden Ettienne outsmarted his opponent and cut inside, but his effort ended up in the side netting. PSV controlled the game and patiently looked for an opening in the Utrecht defense, but after a clumsy foul the ball suddenly went to the penalty spot at the other end. Goalkeeper Daan van de Brande distinguished himself, however, and tapped the ball superbly into the post.
After this penalty it was one-way traffic towards the Utrecht goal. Samuel Gomez and Eus Waayers (both twice) had excellent opportunities for the opening goal, but each time the Utrecht goalkeeper stood in the way. Both teams went into the locker room with a score of 0-0.
In the second half the match was more balanced. Utrecht played a bit brighter than before the break and eventually got some good opportunities. Goalkeeper Daan van de Brande, and also his eventual replacement Ward van Sleeuwen, were well positioned each time. Just before time Brian van de Boogaard had a great chance, but his attempt was unfortunately not powerful enough to trouble the Utrecht goalkeeper. After an hour of play the score was still 0-0.
An unfortunate result for PSV O13, which despite a good first half failed to convert the lead into a goal. Next Wednesday the team practices against NAC Breda, the following weekend AZ visits De Herdgang.
