After a fantastic first half of the season, in which both F teams won the championship, a new competition started today. The technical staff had decided to enter the boys in the competition for first year E's to increase the opposition.
The first opponent was Wvvz from Eindhoven who had come with the E4 to sportpark de hertgang. They kicked off at the stroke of 10 o'clock and psv immediately showed that they were not impressed by their older opponent. Quinn immediately set the tone of the match with an unparalleled action by showing the heels of almost all of his opponents and delivering the ball to Thijs who then beautifully shot in with a right hand shot, what a start! Not even half a minute in and already in the lead 1-0. Exactly 17.68 seconds according to referee Bas. Keep going was coach Willem's motto and the boys gladly complied. One beautiful attack after another rolled across the field, good combinations, great teamwork and fantastic individual actions ensured that another goal was inevitable. In the 11th minute Shurandy and Jochem made good progress in midfield, bringing the ball into Quinn's possession. With another great move he put himself in front of the goalie, who then let him fish for the second time with a low slide into the corner. Was there no opposition at all? Yes indeed, because once they had recovered from their shock, Wvvz also came up with a goal. A minute after the goal Victor had to pull out all the stops to keep his goal clean. Several times the rear guard was also tested but the defense was strong, especially by Joel R and Shurandy. There was also much to enjoy in the attack, with Quinn, Damian and Jamie displaying fantastic technical feats.
Five minutes before half time the decision seemed to fall Thijs went through on the left and took a hard shot but unfortunately the ball ended up in the side netting. After Victor had made some good saves another opportunity followed. On the stroke of half time Shurandy steamed up again and after a nice solo he just could not score, so the scoreboard indicated a 2-0 halftime score.


The first minutes of the second half the game went back and forth, with a number of opportunities for Wvvz and also for psv, but no goals were scored. Halfway through the game Jamie scored the 3-0 after a beautiful cross from Jochem and our boys were well on their way to scoring the first 3 points of the new competition. That Wvvz thought otherwise they soon showed. Victor was able to prevent a counter goal at first but was unable to convert the rebound, 3-1. Hardly frightened by this, psv continued to attack merrily and several beautiful attacks followed. A nice combination between Thijs and Jochem and a very nice solo by Joel R did not result in a goal.
After a fantastic move past four men Quinn played the ball back to Damian who without hesitation put the ball behind the goalkeeper to make it 4-1. Now it could not go wrong anymore.
In the last seconds of the game Damian took a corner which the wvvz keeper could not control and Shurandy was the first to shoot the 5-1 final score.
A great result with good football and three well deserved points in the bag a great start on the road to a new championship?
