Although barely trainable, PSV achieved a thick enough on Saturday on the aspect: "dealing with the circumstances."
A day before the match, due to the poor condition of the pitches at Varkenoord, it was decided to move the match to an amateur complex that on arrival turned out to be under construction, with all the inconveniences that entailed. When it turned out that the goalkeeper's uniforms were missing from the bag when changing clothes, fortunately two kits could be borrowed from the helpful amateur club, leaving Arne, however, with great reluctance, to enter the game in a luminous suit with the name of the local sex shop on his chest. After subsequently having to do the warm-up on a different field than the playing field, and the match eventually started quite some time later due to having to wait for the match that was still in progress on the designated playing field to finish, we had to wait and see if the team had let itself be upset by all these - admittedly - peripheral phenomena.
PSV appeared not to have been mentally steered by the circumstances and concentrated on the match as they should. The first half saw some up and down play without any real excitement, and there was no question of an upper hand, although Feyenoord played a bit more aggressively. Nottenin it was PSV that took the lead after 20 minutes. Tijn saw Joël standing clear at the far post and sent a well measured cross to the striker's head who headed the ball into the near corner, 0-1.
5 Minutes later Joel almost added his 2nd, but his free kick from the edge of the 16 splattered on the crossbar. Arne distinguished himself a few minutes later when Feyenoord had the only real chance of the half. On the stroke of halftime Justin, after a fine individual action earlier, insulating the penalty area on the left, scored the 0 - 2 dry and low with his left into the left corner.
A tasty halftime score that gave PSV little reason to change anything except play more aggressively and anticipate the expected pressure from Feyenoord. With his 2nd. goal of the match, however, Justin soon made short work of Feyenoord's expected flow. In the 45th. minute he shot a too sharp cross from the right from Leandro that jumped into the field via the post resolutely and hard into the roof of the Rotterdam goal, 0 - 3. With that, the match was in the bag for PSV, although far from over. With 23 minutes left on the clock, one of Feyenoord's central defenders landed unhappily on his back after an aerial duel and appeared to be seriously injured. Although even a trauma helicopter was called in and both teams felt that the injured players could not continue, the referee decided that the full remaining regulation playing time and waiting time had to be waited for before the game could be stopped for good, even though it was clear that it was not just a broken metacarpal. After a long wait, the match was finally stopped. The match was not included in the3 standings and the KNVB will determine what will happen with the remaining 23 minutes of playing time.
PSV wishes Feyenoord player Nicklas Blesgraaf lots of strength and success with his recovery.
