The report
No need to talk about the weather. After a week of tug-of-war over whether or not the match would go ahead, it was N.E.C. that pulled the longest straw and so we went with a young squad (on the bench was year 2004) to play the match and try to continue the upward trend of last week. The intention was good.
The start was again messy and there was also little structure and organization to be seen. N.E.C. also happily participated in this. Yet it was N.E.C. that struck the first blow. After a corner the ball was shot well by the number 7 and via the underside of the crossbar the ball hit the net. Within a minute of the kickoff it was Jeremy who equalized. So build on that you would say, but N.E.C. was of a different opinion. A misunderstanding in our backline led to N.E.C.'s lead. Nothing wrong yet but the game did not improve and just before half time a mistake in our defense was punished and we went into the locker room with a 3-1 deficit.
After halftime, it has to happen. A few changes took place but the desired effect did not come. Five minutes before time N.E.C. also scored the 4-1. The defeat is a fact. Too bad but today there was really no more to be done. Starting Monday we will discuss the good points and work on the other points to improve them. Next Friday we have a cup game against 016. So nice weekend and on to the next round of the cup.
Ronnie get well and hopefully see you on the field again soon.
