Defeat for PSV O14
As PSV O14 had won the away match at Ajax O14, a tormented Ajax could be expected at De Herdgang on Saturday. In the match this was clearly visible, it was Ajax that fought for every ball and usually managed to win the second ball. The boys from PSV were less fierce in the duels and due to mistakes Ajax could run out to a 0-3 victory.
So the fierceness of the teams was the difference today between PSV O14 and Ajax O14. Ajax put high pressure, often causing PSV problems early on the pitch. Instead of looking for spaces on the pitch, PSV played too much football in the small space. Due to the aggression with which Ajax played, the PSV players did not get the time to do this and thus there was a lot of unnecessary ball loss. Ajax was able to take a 0-3 lead as early as the first half. All goals came from careless defending by the Eindhoven side. PSV could create little danger in the first half. A free kick by Tim van de Heuvel that hit the roof of the goal was the only real danger.
At halftime, trainers Heilmann and Kolka made it clear that they had to change the game. This resulted in two chances for PSV in the second half. Jason van Duiven and Tim were not so lucky today, so the ball did not go in, but it was clear that PSV started more fiercely. As the second half progressed, the game blossomed to death and there were few more chances for either team. PSV did play brighter as they did in the first half, but the Ajax guys gave nothing away. But because of PSV's brighter play, they didn't give away many more chances either.
Despite the 0-3 loss, still many learning moments for the players, the saying on the wall at the Herdgang applied again today. The talent may be there, but in top games, hard work also comes with it. And this was precisely the difference between the two teams. So some PSV players will have to bring a little more in the physical part of the matches. In the away game they showed that, that they can do it, but unfortunately not on Saturday. Next week a friendly against Volendam O14 is scheduled. In this they can then recover.
