PSV O13 books deserved victory over FC Twente
After a spectacular final phase, PSV O13 finally scored another victory. At their own Herdgang stadium, striker Eus Waayers scored the winning goal in injury time. The team rewarded itself for the good play it showed this match.
PSV started the match energetically and had two good opportunities to open the score within ten minutes. However, both Eus and Robin van Duiven found the FC Twente goalkeeper in their way. At the other end, the Tukkers were also dangerous, but goalkeeper Daan van de Brande was well positioned to defuse a cross from the left flank. In the 19th minute, PSV managed to open the scoring. After a good attack on the right side, Samuel Gomez came one on one with the Twente goalkeeper. With a well-aimed stick Samuel left the keeper defenseless and gave his team the deserved lead. Shortly after the goal Raf van de Riet also had a great opportunity, but his attempt disappeared just over the goal. So both teams went into the locker room with a 1-0 score.
Immediately after halftime, PSV had another opportunity to double the score. After a deep pass, Eus was able to head towards the Twente goal. He got to the ball before the goalkeeper, but his lob was just too high for the team to take advantage of. At the other end, the goal did come. After a dropped ball, a Twente player volleyed the ball over the PSV goalkeeper to make it 1-1. PSV did not let their heads drop, however, and took the lead again five minutes later. A long ball from Wessel Kuhn reached the deep Samuel. For the second time this match, he remained calm, face to face with the goalkeeper, and put the Eindhoveners ahead again. PSV seemed to be able to play the game out calmly, but were dealt a blow two minutes before time. A shot by a Twente player was blocked with the arm, after which the referee put the ball on the spot. Twente seized the opportunity and both teams equalized just before time.
Yet PSV still went on to win. After a good individual action, Eus was hooked inside the penalty area. The striker claimed the awarded penalty kick himself and, late in injury time, coolly shot the ball in. The joy in the PSV camp was great, because the team managed to end a fine match victoriously.
Next week both teams will meet again, but this time in Enschede. PSV will have to be vigilant for Twente's reaction, as they will undoubtedly want revenge for this defeat.
