The report
Today the match against FC Utrecht is scheduled after an international week. I must say that the home team's turf looks very good.
FC Utrecht was immediately fierce and tried to prevent PSV from getting into the game. In the 7th minute Nigel Thomas pulled the ball back from the left to the incoming Yorbe Vertessen, but his shot went high over. It takes until the 22nd' minute before PSV is dangerous again in front of the Utrecht goal. A nice action and shot by Mohammed Ihattaren on the edge of the penalty area ends up at the post via the goalkeeper's hands. In the 30th minute we were forced to make a change, the injured Damian Timan was replaced by Davy van den Berg. It is then Thomas who in the 31st minute from the right plays out his opponent and delivers a cross to the head of Vertessen. Unfortunately, he does not get the right direction from the ball and the cross goes in front. FC Utrecht is only really dangerous for the first time in the 38th minute. We went into the break with a score of 0-0.
In the second half, PSV's chances are sparse, a shot by Ihattaren into the side netting and after a corner Koen Oostenbrink just can't reach the ball. The match seems to be heading for a draw. But trainer Ruud van Nistelrooij's team comes up with the scare in the 88th minute and in injury time. First a ball is cleared off the line by Oostenbrink and not much later Utrecht gets a free header into the goalkeeper's area to still keep the three points at home. Only PSV's goalkeeper, Maxime Delanghe, neatly stops the ball as he remains standing and does not choose a corner. PSV thus gains a point from this match.
The next match is Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. at home for the Youth League against Tottenham Hotspur FC.
Composition PSV O19:
Delanghe, Kuisch (80,Mendonca), Zeegers, Oostenbrink, Vos, Kjolo, Sidibe, Timan (30, van den Berg), Vertessen (46, Horvath), Ihattaren and Thomas.
