Rejuvenated PSV performs satisfactorily in The Hague
PSV traveled to The Hague on Saturday for the always difficult away game against ADO. Due to the wave of injuries plaguing the O17, six (basic) players were transferred from the O16 to the O17. Add to that a player who had to drop out due to illness, and the problem with which the coaching staff was confronted this week becomes clear.
In turn, O16 was able to call on O15, which handed off five players to the team, two of whom, Matteo and Iggy, also started in the starting lineup. They played a fine game, as PSV also started the match excellently. Already after three minutes Mo almost made it 0-1, when Iggy turned the ball in sharply from the right side to the far post, where the incoming Mo came just a few centimeters short. A minute later, the bench almost bounced back when occasional striker Naïm took the Hague goal under fire from 20 meters. The goalkeeper was nailed on but the bar prevented the 0-1. In the 23rd minute, it finally seemed to hit the mark. In a fantastic scrimmage in front of the Hague goal, Iggy allegedly shot the ball well over the line after which it was cleared, but afterwards the referee indicated that according to VAR the ball was 'just barely' over the line. No goal, but in the same minute PSV opened the scoring. Mo did not think twice when the ball fell at his feet in the penalty area, and shot the 0-1 without hesitation. However, quiet possession was not the lead for the O16. 3 Minutes later ADO managed to get to the far post inside the sixteen over a couple of drives, where the 1-1 was simply tapped in.
As sharp as PSV started the first half, they started the second weakly. Already in the 42nd minute, a Hagenaar player was given free passage to Aron. At first he made a good save in the 1-1 situation, but the cleared ball landed exactly at the feet of a Hagenaar player who could easily slide the ball into the empty goal, 2-1. Although ADO was close to the 3-1 on a number of occasions, but Aron saved well or the post got in the way, PSV still equalized a few minutes before time. In the 76th minute, PSV got a free kick 20 meters from and right in front of the goal. Without hesitation Naïm shot the ball hard and straight in, determining the final score at 2-2. O16 will play the cup match against PSV O17 next Friday at 15:00.
