Sometimes there are those nights when you can't get to sleep and this night is one of them. Of course you can then rewatch all your favorite Chuck Norris movies, but I am using this nightly hour to make a short report of the league game against Orange White.
Well, what can we say? Point loss, because 1-1. And that is allowed of course, because even a champion's team spills points sometimes and that is as much part of football as the sweetness of victory. Next Saturday Geldrop / AEK D1 is waiting again and then we just have to take three points. There was plenty of effort on Saturday, but it lacked sharpness and ingenuity to book a smooth victory (0-7) like earlier this season in Dordrecht. Oranje Wit simply stood well on the field, nothing to be said about that. They kept it tight at the back and PSV D2 was unable to do anything exciting in return. And if you come alongside from a nice free kick, you just did a great job. It was therefore only right that Oranje Wit celebrated the draw as a victory after the final whistle; it was certainly not undeserved. A nice team with a lot of commitment and fun. And with a coach who was not only focused on defending, something we often saw happen to other teams visiting Eindhoven this season.
What did PSV D2 show? Effort too, as I said, but few clear-cut chances. The free kick that Matthias Verreth headed in from a Zohair Labyad free kick was absolutely beautiful, but there was not much more to enjoy than that. Yes, in the second half a clean goal by the same Matthias was disallowed for offside, but I won't get much further than that.
Next week against Geldrop, we will have to 'tap from a completely different barrel', to use one of those lovely football clichés. There is no shame in losing points once in a while, but it should not become a habit! Good luck, we are confident.
