Despite the inclement winter weather of the last few weeks, football could still be played today. Again a difficult away game was scheduled. The opponent was FC Eindhoven. Remembering the hard-fought victory (2-3, ed.) of the E1 before the winter break, our boys were fully motivated. On a pitch that was difficult to play on due to the frost, the first 5 minutes were mainly a midfield battle. The visitors passed the ball around well, without creating any real big chances. The first really big chance was for FC Eindhoven, but Pepijn made a good save. Just one minute later Niels had a free shot, but his shot went just wide of the goal. The next chance was also for PSV. On the left side Benjamin played himself free and played the ball to the free Koen. He passed the ball directly to Jay. Unfortunately his shot did not hit the target either. Despite good positioning and quick turnovers, the spectators (including the "hard core" from Valkenswaard) had to wait until midway through the first half for the next danger. From a corner taken by Niels, Koen towered high above everyone. His header could only just be turned away and FC Eindhoven thought they could get out quickly. Rico managed to interrupt this attack and with a through ball he reached Yassin. With a hard shot into the roof of the goal, he scored the 0-1. They could not enjoy this lead for long because less than two minutes later the equalizer was on the scoreboard. A corner taken on the right was turned in at once. Our red and white boys wanted to go into halftime with a lead, but shots by Benjamin and Yassin did not yield a goal. Where it was difficult to score before halftime, how different it was after halftime. From the kickoff it was FC Eindhoven that boldly took the lead (2-1). PSV showed that they also have resilience. Because in the same minute, the well-running Joop (after Jay had steamed up well), managed to bring both teams back into balance. A few minutes later, Jay placed a corner right on the head of Koen. His hard header hit the bar, but Yassin was quick to push the ball over the line (2-3). The 2-4 was also scored by Yassin. On the back line he managed to find a gap between a defender, goalkeeper and the post. In the 36th minute the game seemed to be decided. With a through ball Niels offered Jay a free passage and with a well-aimed shot he managed to outsmart the goalkeeper (2-5). Niels seemed to get a goal as well. With great strides he crossed the field, but eye to eye with the goalkeeper he slid the ball on the wrong side of the post. In the 40th minute FC Eindhoven reduced the deficit to 3-5. We did not have to wait long for the next goal. Now it was Benjamin who showed his heels to two opponents in order to provide Yassin with a tailor-made service (3-6). Again FC Eindhoven managed to bring the margin to two, this time scoring from a corner (4-6). After beautiful preparatory work by Yassin, Joop curled the ball brilliantly into the cross (4-7). In the final minute there were even three more goals. Twice by FC Eindhoven and once by Yassin. With a "korfball" result (6-8) and three points richer we could leave the field.
