The report
Last weekend, PSV O13 played another indoor tournament in Delfzijl. In a very strong field of participants, PSV managed to finish in 7th place. Today it was back to the real thing. A cup round was on the program. And not just one, no, we had to deal with Ajax to reach the last eight. After a very good first half, with a 2-0 lead, PSV O13 had to acknowledge the superiority of Ajax in the second half.
PSV started the match brightly, they put on a lot of pressure to keep Ajax from getting into their favorite game. Tim van de Heuvel was quicker than his opponent in the3rd minute, and managed to get the ball well in front of the goal from the back line. Enzo Geerts was well connected from midfield, and managed to tap the ball in with control. A few minutes later Renzo Tytens gets to take a corner. It is Arthur Piedfort who manages to work the ball in at the first post. 2-0, what a good start for PSV. In the 14th minute, unfortunately for PSV, Enzo had to drop out injured. He had fallen through his ankle and had heard it crack. Fortunately, after examination, it turned out that nothing was broken. But PSV will have to miss Enzo for a few weeks. PSV continued to control the game well in the first half, but unfortunately did not score any more goals.
The second half was a completely different picture. Ajax started playing with four men up front in order to force something. PSV clearly struggled with this. Renzo immediately missed a chance to increase the lead in the first minutes. Due to the changed style of play, PSV no longer had control at the back. Within seven minutes, therefore, the score had changed to 2-2. Ajax kept pressing, but still it was PSV that got the bigger chances. But by not having the bit of luck, bar just past, PSV failed to score. Against that, every chance from Ajax was a hit. The spaces became much too big and they gave the Amsterdammers too much space. This allowed Ajax to run out to a 2-5 victory. And it is Ajax that continues in the cup. Still, PSV played a good game, especially the first half was of a high standard. Too bad that in the second half the chances were not exploited, with a little more luck there would have been more in it. Next week the league resumes, we will travel to The Hague where Quik is the opponent.
