    PSV undersells at Varkenoord

Feyenoord did not come out on top in Saturday's game against PSV. Feyenoord slumped and often looked for the long ball to the dangerous striker in the build-up, which made for an amusing game with chances for both teams, in which Feyenoord's fighting spirit was ultimately the deciding factor.

PSV started the match extremely unhappy. After just over 10 minutes Robin saw a Feyenoord player coming towards him. The referee saw things differently and awarded Feyenoord a penalty for the action, for which Robin, incidentally, was spared the red card that actually went with it. The Feyenoord striker cashed in, 1-0. More than 15 minutes later PSV escaped a bigger deficit when Feyenoord went in front of the goal after a quick changeover, but saw a PSV defender clear off the line twice from close range. PSV's biggest danger in the first half came from Ian, who saw a fine free kick tapped just over the goal by the Rotterdam keeper in the 25th minute. As unfortunate as PSV started the first half, it ended in injury time. After Robin punched away a high cross, the ball was again put in front of the goal. This time he missed, whether hindered or not, and the 2-0 went in.

After fifteen minutes of play in the second half, Feyenoord claimed another penalty after a PSV player allegedly blocked a cross with his hands. To no avail this time and instead of the decisive 3-1, Fode scored the tying goal from a scrimmage in the 76th minute, followed by an exciting finale. That same Fode had the equalizer on his shoe in injury time with a great action. Inside the penalty area he took a controlled ball to his chest and immediately volleyed it in. A fantastic save by the Feyenoord goalkeeper prevented the equalizer and after a good header by Dani also failed to go in, PSV had to resign themselves to defeat.

Although a disappointing result for O16, the good news was that Joost de Schutter was back in the squad on Saturday after months of absence due to injury and made minutes played. Welcome back and good luck Joost!
