  1. Match report

Today a home match for PSV U13 and a match for the cup, so a decision has to be made today. Our guests have already had a long journey as they come from Almere of the same name club Almere City. They play 1 league lower than PSV, but are on top, so we have to see what kind of resistance they will give. In the 2nd minute PSV could already take their first corner, Ruben was looking for Jesper's head, and he found it, but his aim was not yet sharp and he headed the ball over the goal. 1 Minute later it is Almere that seems to come out dangerously with a long ball to their fast striker, but it is Mark our linesman who throws up his flag. And from experience we know that we don't have to hesitate then because Mark certainly doesn't collect points for us, so rightly offside. In the 9th minute it is Ruben who tries to spoon the ball over the goalkeeper from the side, but the ball falls just wide. In the 12th minute it's Almere that unexpectedly takes the lead, from a corner that was turned away, the ball gets stuck in the 16 meter area, an Almere player takes a shot and the ball disappears behind Niek, so 0-1. And here we have another great learning moment for the boys, 9 games in a row without a goal against, that's when you start feeling strong, and also facing a deficit again, that's been a while, how will they deal with this. For a moment you would say that PSV has lost it and Almere will get wings, but slowly PSV gets a grip on the game again, there is not a bad word among the players of PSV and they continue to calmly play football in their own task and in their own way. So a learning moment that they can also handle this setback well and not panic. In the 25th minute, Sven got free in front of the goalie but was pushed in the back, so the referee had no choice but to award PSV a penalty. Ruben claims the ball and shoots the ball not great but effective 1-1. 3 minutes later it is Ruben again who scores. A corner by PSV is cleared by Almere in the first instance, but the ball lands at the feet of Ruben, who takes full advantage and the ball turns perfectly into the cross, this goal approaches the beauty of the goal that Verreth of the U19 recently scored against Bayer Munich 2-1. With this lead we go to the locker room for halftime.

In the 34th minute it was Chahid who cut free in the 16 meters and scored in a controlled manner 3-1. There is not much else to tell about the second half. PSV continues to dominate the game but the coach's changes of positions make it look a bit messier. PSV did get a penalty, but Jesper shot high over. And in the 59 minute another goal, it is Shijon who puts the ball from the back line back to Ruben who shoots the ball in low over the ground, scoring his third goal of the day, 4-1. And a further round in the cup tournament, now let's see who the draw will bring us. Furthermore a compliment to the referee on duty today, Mr. Mejia, a referee like we would like to have every week, young not blowing the whistle for every little thing but feeling the game well and letting it play on. If the KNVB is smart they will promote this young guy soon. Next Wednesday afternoon we have a practice game on the agenda against a team from the USA, and then next Saturday the away game to Willem II. Until then.
