PSV D2 is on a collision course for a great football season. Just think: three games played, nine points and a goal difference to lick your fingers at. PSV shot no fewer than 20 goals in three matches and did not concede a single one. Beautiful figures and rightly so, but ho, the season is still long. Very long! The main thing for the D2 is to keep up the good play of the last few weeks.
Saturday that worked out very well, with again a better second than first half. The D2 had to do without Mink Peeters (injury), Mats Grotenbreg and Danté Rigo (both on loan to the D1). Cody Gakpo came over from the D3 to fill out the bench. Great football weather Saturday by the way. Hardly any wind, a nice sun, the field a little damp and two teams who were in the mood for it. The start was for the Roosendalers who got a good chance within a minute, to which Aaron reacted well. Slowly but surely the game moves towards the RBC goal and PSV can do some pinpricks through Ertem Bölükbas, Giovanni Nicolaas and Joey Konings. These pinpricks caused PSV to be fiercer on the ball and the combinations started to flow. From one of those combinations, Ties van den Eijnde is allowed to fire at the RBC goal, but his shot goes wide. Then in the eleventh minute, the first really big chance. Matthias Verreth plays himself free and shoots hard at the goal. However, the RBC goalkeeper saves well. Immediately afterwards it is RBC's turn and Aaron again handles a difficult ball well. RBC stands well in the back, gives PSV little space to play football and occasionally creates danger with counters. An attractive match! Just as a somewhat messy phase starts in which PSV loses a lot of unnecessary ball, Ties opens up for Joey, who passes the ball to Matthias. Matthias slides the ball in impeccably and makes it 1-0. The spell is broken, because RBC has not yet recovered from the opening goal when Matthias, after getting rid of three defenders, nicely spoons the ball over the RBC goalkeeper and makes it 2-0. That second goal was followed by a good period for RBC. The PSV defense, with captain Koen Vos in the center, has its hands full with a number of good breakaways. Jeroen Swinkels stands out by giving the RBC right striker little space. The only way PSV can get out in the final phase is through a nice up-and-coming from Ymanuel Hurkmans on the stroke of half-time.
RBC continued the fast counter football from just before the break after the break and got some nice chances at the start. The first PSV chance is for Joey, who gets through to the goalkeeper on his own, but the RBC goalie makes a strong save. A minute later Matthias is again close to a goal. Cody sends Matthias well away and the Belgian striker curls the ball in front of the emerging goalkeeper at the post. Halfway through the first half, PSV then in full control, PSV makes it 3-0. Matthias passed the ball to Ertem, who went alone to the goalkeeper and slid in the third goal. Then it goes fast. Matthias scores the 4-0 after a pass from Joey, Zohair Labyad shoots the fifth high after preparatory work by Gio and Twan Demin makes it 6-0 with a nice curve ball. Aaron has nothing more to do by then and defenders Roel van Linschoten, Jeroen, Ties and Ymanuel also ensure that RBC no longer cross the center line. Great win, good football and next week we go to Geldrop for hopefully another nice game of football.
