After the glorious win on Easter Monday in Hoogstrate, we played 'normal' friendly football again on Sunday. In splendid conditions by the way, as the sun was shining brightly and EVV Eindhoven's fields were in perfect condition. But it was not a real match at the Velddoornweg. In three 20-minute halves it ended up 7-2, with PSV only struggling briefly in the second half when two goals suddenly came one after the other. Otherwise, as is often the case this season, the difference in strength was too great to speak of an even contest. PSV kept it as tight at the back as North Korea keeps the border with South Korea and the midfield swirled like the first hurricane of the season in the Caribbean. Eindhoven limited themselves mainly to massive defense around the sixteen meters and PSV had to rely mainly on fast breakaways. In many cases these were rewarding, although with a little more precision a higher result would not have been unfair. But it is difficult to play football if you have to make the game all the time and are therefore perhaps a little too eager to score goals. But what are we talking about?
Next week awaits Willem II, always an opponent on the razor's edge. That is guaranteed to be a very different game than today against Eindhoven. More will be demanded of PSV's cleverness and creativity, but in Hoogstrate it turned out that the team can handle that pressure quite nicely.
