  1. Match report

You have to have been there to believe it!!!
PSV D1 missed an excellent opportunity to become champion in the last match of the competition by playing 0-0 in the away match against TOP Oss D1. Before the match against TOP Oss, the parents, coach and staff of the PSV players knew that Willem II D1 had played equal (1-1) at NAC D1. PSV D1 therefore needed only a win to celebrate the championship. On the bumpy pitch, PSV D1 started the match well with a strong tailwind. One attack after the other was heading for the goal of TOP Oss D1. They played well over the wings and created several good chances. However, finishing the chances proved to be a problem, partly due to strong goalkeeping by the excellent goalkeeper of TOP Oss D1.
PSV D1 kept playing in the Ossian half of the pitch and were waiting for the liberating goal(s). Before half-time, PSV D1 should have taken a large lead given the number of 100% chances and opportunities. However, there appeared to be a curse on goal scoring by the PSV attackers this afternoon. In the second half it would happen, but no matter what our boys tried the ball would not go in on the side of TOP Oss D1. On the other side of the field, TOP Oss D1 managed to create only one chance in the entire match, which fortunately for PSV disappeared just over the PSV defended goal. All PSV players continued to believe in victory and one 100% scoring chance after another was either killed off or defused by the hero in the TOP Oss D1 goal. After the final whistle, the players of both PSV D1 and TOP Oss D1 plunged to the ground en masse, the Eindhoveners of disappointment and the Osseners of joy. Instead of walking the polonaise, all PSV players left the playing field with a huge hangover.
PSV D1 and Willem II D1 have finished equal in the league due to today's draw, which means that a decider match for the championship between these two arch-rivals will soon follow on neutral ground.
Our boys will need a few days to recharge their batteries, but with the support of the parents, coach and coaching staff, they will have to turn things around quickly. It will be an unprecedentedly exciting finale to a bizarre league battle between PSV D1 and Willem II D1. The team best able to mentally prepare itself optimally for this clash of giants after today will probably emerge victorious. Let's all support PSV D1 in the battle for the championship by coming out en masse to the decider against Willem II D1. PSV D1 players, coach and staff wish you all the best of luck and strength in this coming decider. PSV tomorrow national champion and PSV D1 next week!!!
