The report

On a cold day in January, PSV O15 had to travel to the far north where Heerenveen awaited as their opponent. The Frisians played their first game in the Eredivisie High last week and lost 3-0 to Ajax. PSV started the new competition with a 2-2 draw against FC Utrecht.

On a difficult-to-play artificial turf pitch, the home team started brightly. It also got a number of chances in the first half. But due to good goalkeeping by Kjell Peersman, the Frisians did not score. Only after 12 minutes PSV got the first opportunity through a shot from Iggy Houben. This gave PSV a little more confidence and after 15 minutes of play a goal by Iggy was disallowed for offside. With about 10 minutes left in the first half, PSV got another chance. A good opening by Milan Govaers on the passing back Koen Jansen was the basis of Iggy's volley. The Heerenveen goalkeeper turned away the effort with a cat-like reflex. With the so-called glasses position both teams went to the warm dressing room.

After halftime, the game was a little more balanced. Heerenveen seemed to have to play at a slower pace and PSV got up to temperature little by little. In the 44th minute, the Eindhoven players almost had the opening goal on their shoe. A Milan Govaers corner landed at the far post at the feet of Jaivy Lourens, but his shot was blocked. Two minutes later the goal was scored. A cross from Koen Jansen got stuck in the goal area after which Iggy Houben finally scored the 0-1. In the hectic final phase, both teams had chances to score goals. However, Heerenveen had to deal with Kjell every time. In the 61st minute, the striker appeared in front of him and tried to pass Kjell with a lob. Fortunately Kjell kept his head cool (which was not that difficult with the temperature) and tapped the ball away. PSV also had chances in the changeover to seal the game. But Iggy, Jaivy and Ruben were unable to pass the goalkeeper. In the end, PSV won the game and were the luckiest today.

With three points in the bag, the team got back on the bus. Next week PSV O15 plays for the cup at AFC.
