The report

The last game in the spring competition was an away game against Excelsior. We wanted to go into the winter break with a good feeling and so take the three points back to Eindhoven. On the road with the official PSV player bus, what more could you want?

We started well and were short on our opponent. Soon we had some good chances. Djenario had a nice chance and a shot by Mathijs unfortunately missed the target. Yet after 24 minutes we scored 0-1 through a good drive by Djenario, who scored in the scrimmage. There were also some good chances before halftime to increase the score but unfortunately they did not succeed. In the first half we showed fast combination football with several chances and good aggressive play. After the break we had to continue like this.

And after halftime, the world suddenly looked very different. What a difference from the first half. After a little over five minutes in the second half, it was our goalie who, with the ball at his feet, wanted to pass to a player outside the penalty area, and he did, but just happened to pass to the only player who was not wearing a white shirt. He gratefully accepted the ball and calmly equalized the score. There are those days... We still had a few chances to get back into the lead but it didn't work. Then after just over an hour of play, Excelsior managed to parry one of our attacks and surprise our defense with a quick counter. As the game drew to a close, things went from bad to worse. No line in the game, no idea what to do or what we were doing. All this also resulted in an unnecessary second yellow card for Djenario and a point or even three points were therefore not deserved to take back on the bus.

Men, plenty of food for thought over the winter break. But still for the team and the whole staff happy holidays a good New Year and a healthy 2019. Until January 3 and hopefully then everyone will be back healthy and fresh for the championship round. Goal 3 of the year should be our goal then.
