The report
In the tenth league round, PSV O15 took on promovendus FC Den Bosch. In other words, number 11 (Den Bosch) against number 5 (PSV). Both teams won 1-0 last weekend, the Boschenaren at Vitesse, PSV at home against FC Utrecht. Prior to the match, the home team could desperately use the points to crawl up out of the relegation zone. PSV, on the other hand, needed the points to stay connected behind the top.
PSV started well, had a lot of ball possession and took the lead in the 8th minute. A corner from Mylian Jimenez got stuck in the goal mouth after which Dylan Hopman scored via the arm of a Boschen player: 1-0. After 15 minutes of play, PSV had a chance to extend the lead. A shot by Milan van de Riet was turned away (by hand) after which Dyon Dorenbosch's effort was also blocked. In the last phase before halftime the game became a bit messier. Also due to the field and the weather conditions. Still, PSV managed to lift the score to 0-2. Again a corner by Mylian was the basis for the goal when Jesse Giebels worked it in via his upper body.
The second half was particularly mediocre from both sides. The level dropped along with the wind chill. Den Bosch did want to use opportunistic play to force the tying goal. But after 70 minutes they had only one chance: a header was cleverly turned away by Aron van Lare. PSV did not offer much in return. In the closing stages, Milan came close to scoring a third Eindhoven goal, but it did not materialize.
PSV thus won again and also once again kept the zero behind. It remains in fifth place because all teams at the top won. The gap to number six has increased to seven points. Next week the home game against Vitesse is scheduled.
