A great late summer day. Plenty of sunshine, People in t-shirts and sunglasses. And then the trip to Kerkrade. 80 km on the freeway. But if there is a truck there, you're out of there fast. So then via Belgium. And after more than three hours in the bus we arrive in the valley between the hills. In the bronze-green oak wood. In Limburg. (They are still investigating whether Roda put that truck there to break the concentration) haha. With an hour delay we start the match.
And as nice as the day started and as nice as the day was so opposite was the match. Only the first twenty minutes we offered resistance. After that Roda was brighter, faster, better etc.
Even before halftime they scored twice. And we stand there and watch. After halftime Roda has all the time (understandably) and again, we stand by and watch. Just before the end Arnaut manages to surprise their goalkeeper with a great shot but we don't get any further. And where our opponents are doing good business in the league, we are doing ourselves far too short. We stand there and watch. We can now leave the valley between the hills again. Fortunately, the journey back does not take three hours even though the distance is as long as the outward journey. But we now know what to do next week.
And as mentioned once before: without valleys you cannot enjoy the peaks.
Dirk, congratulations on your new acquisition.
See you guys next week.
Bye.
