    The Report

    From the start of the match, Feyenoord took the initiative. This gave the home club the lead as early as the sixth minute. Loss of ball in the PSV midfield allowed Feyenoord to go on the attack. A deep ball was tapped past the keeper by a Feyenoord player, 1-0. PSV's first opportunity came in the tenth minute from a free kick. However, the Feyenoord goalie saved the effort. Feyenoord were energetic and continued to search for a goal. In the 16th minute Feyenoord was close to another goal. However, the shot sailed off the inside of the post. PSV could do little in return. They often made the wrong choices and did not really get into the game. Feyenoord were on top of the game and had several opportunities to score. But the home side failed to distance themselves from PSV in this phase of the match and put the game to bed early. With a 1-0 score both teams went to rest.

    Feyenoord was also the dominant side early in the second half. In the first five minutes Feyenoord had several opportunities but they were not capitalized on. PSV had an opportunity to score in the 42nd minute, but the cross was headed over the dead ball line by a Feyenoord defender. Feyenoord did manage to score in the 45th minute, although the home side needed help from PSV to make it 2-0. After the kick-off by PSV, Feyenoord immediately found themselves in possession of the ball. The ensuing attack was finished off by the home side, 3-0. After this goal, it was PSV that went on the attack from the kickoff and that immediately resulted in a goal. Gioele Nicolaas' cross was tapped in by Milan van de Riet, 3-1. PSV then tried to get back into the game but no real chances were created. Feyenoord had some opportunities but also Feyenoord did not score anymore so the final score was 3-1.
