Location: Sportpark Goirleseweg (Willem II)
After playing an excellent game against Ajax last weekend, this weekend it was an away game against Willem II that was on the schedule. Usually these are not the easiest games for us.
It was clear what the opponent's intentions were: to play compact and not allow any goals against. PSV started the game very sharp and after 5 min a well sent in free kick was successfully headed into the net by Robin Schoonbrood. Unfortunately after the goal the game became less and less. Tempo on the ball was too low, the free running not explosive enough and the spaces were kept very small by Willem II so it was not the most enjoyable game to watch. Still, PSV managed to find an opening and Amar Catic was brought down in the 16meter. This penalty kick was controlled by Justin Lonwijk. Half-time score 0-2.
In the second half we were no longer able to play well. We created some chances but lacked the sharpness needed to capitalize on them. A positive thing to mention is that as a team we did not give away a single chance; attackers, midfielders, defenders and goalkeepers all managed to perform the tasks together defensively for 70 minutes. Final score 0-2.
