The report
PSV O13 had to travel to the province of Zeeland last Saturday to play against training club JVOZ. Despite good field play, PSV failed to score. And since the opponent did once, it became a long bus trip back with the 1-0 loss.
PSV's field play actually did not have much to fault. But the game of football is about scoring. And that is exactly what the O13 boys are currently lacking. Playing football up to 20 meters in front of the opponent's goal is no problem. But then? They did not create any real chances, even when they got into the opponent's 16-meter area there was no one to pull the trigger. JVOZ played well grouped, kept the spaces small and occasionally tried to get out from the transition. It was even JVOZ that got the biggest chance in the first half. A shot from distance splattered on the crossbar, all of PSV was there and watching. But halftime was reached with a 0-0 score.
The second half was actually a copy of the first. PSV footballed better, but didn't create any chances. And JVOZ kept up their style of play and continued to make things difficult for PSV. And the football law says that if you don't score, the opponent will. Again, from a corner JVOZ managed to score the decisive and only goal. And today was a day when you could play all day long, but few or no goals would be seen. So it remained 1-0 for JVOZ and this was a heavy disappointment for the players, staff and parents traveling with them.
Now the boys can go enjoy a well-deserved vacation. And at the beginning of January they start with an indoor tournament in Delfzeil. After which the cup game at home against Ajax is scheduled for Saturday 20 January. On behalf of players and staff of PSV O13 we wish you happy holidays and a healthy and happy 2018.
