PSV winter champion after win over Ajax

In a direct confrontation at the Toekomst on Saturday, the battle between PSV and Ajax for the winter championship was decided. Although both teams had already qualified for the champions league in the second half of the season, the top match at least had the necessary honor at stake. PSV was more dangerous and decisive than Ajax and rightly pulled off the win in the end.

The score opened in PSV's favor early in the match. In the 5th minute, Kees sent the completely free Milan on the right into the penalty area. His hard low cross was slipped into his own goal by an Ajax defender without a PSV player nearby. Although Ajax first became dangerous in front of Robin's goal after 13 minutes, it took until the 21st minute before Ajax managed to equalize, although this time PSV needed help. In an almost identical situation to the 1-0, Justin slid a sharp cross from the right into his own goal with an attacker at his back: 1-1. Although Fode had the 1-2 on his shoe before halftime, after a good preparatory action by Jeremy, but missed the ball at the far post, the teams went into the locker room with the score tied.

In the more attractive second half, PSV immediately went full throttle. Immediately after the whistle, Milan came through well on the right to deliver one of his excellent assists, but his cross was missed by the PSV player in front of goal. Nevertheless, it took until midway through the second half for PSV to take the deserved lead again after an excellent attack over three drives. Mathijs sent Milan into the Ajax penalty area with a fine cross and his cross was shot in at the far post by the free Fode: 1-2. Not much later PSV secured the win. This time Alberto sent Milan away on the right, who took the ball beautifully on the turn and put it in front of the goal in the penalty area. The Ajax goalkeeper was unable to control the ball and Jeremy was quick to tap in the 1-3.

A great result after a fine game by O16, which crowned an excellent first half of the season, in which all but one match was won, with the winter championship. With the return of a number of long-term injured as well as suspended players in sight, the second half of the season can be looked forward to with confidence. On behalf of the staff we wish you all a happy vacation and good holidays.
