  1. Match report

PSV started this match very solidly. They played fast and well and RBC had the upper hand. Yet the opponent managed to get in the middle at the right moment, preventing PSV from scoring. Occasionally the defense was forced back by Roosendaal's attacks and forced to defend carefully and sharply. Even this succeeded ..... for the time being. After 15 minutes of play RBC managed to break down our defense through strong and fast team play; 0-1.
Until half time our boys were mainly mentally affected by this deficit, which manifested itself in hurried, careless play. And that was exactly what they did not need, it had to be measured passes, because the ball had to go in! In this phase of the match, both RBC and PSV came up with nice attacking moves, but both failed to score. The fact was that PSV gradually took control of the game (another mental lesson learned). A few attacks later the quickly rising Steven crossed to captain Justin, who tapped in. With this redeeming goal and thus a draw, we went into the break with some peace of mind.
New round, new chances. Coach Bastiaan Riemersma put in his pep talk and four substitutes and the game turned. The backfield closed hermetically, the midfield played on smoothly and the attack also acquitted itself cleanly: within ten minutes Cody and Roland provided a wide lead of 3-1. RBC was broken and hardly came to attacks anymore. The game was played and ended 8-1. Let's see it as a good warm up for the upcoming tournament in Voorschoten.
A bizarre moment in the first half had another nasty tail. The referee made an unfortunate fall over one of our players. We saw him scramble up and briefly reach for his hand. Afterwards, it turned out that the referee had finished the game with a broken little finger. Hereby: the man of the match!
