  1. Match report

Beautiful football weather, a full stadium lots of drum roll, fireworks, thunder and bengal fireworks, everything you want to play football for was there. Ajax wanted to become champions today and we wanted to postpone this for another week. The atmosphere was there and now the performance had to be put on the field. Under loud cheers both teams came onto the field. The start was a bit hesitant and from the PSV side a little more than from Ajax. They threw off the initial trepidation and were therefore dangerous first. In the thirteenth minute a high ball was superbly taken by the No. 7 and played in one move past our defender and then Benjamin was defenseless on the low slide into the far corner. The stadium exploded, thunderclaps sounded and the drums roared on and on. After about twenty minutes we got into the game a bit better, but there were no real chances. Ajax remained more dangerous. Our side played a bit lightly. A lot of unnecessary ball loss, duels were easily lost and the so-called "2nd ball" was rarely for us. In the 41st minute it was Robert who had to get a ball off the line and the score at halftime was 1 - 0.

After the break we wanted to change the game. The start was a bit dull but suddenly in the 52nd minute a ball was headed through and Jurgen was able to score the equalizer 1 - 1. We felt there was more to this match. In the 60th minute the ball was lost in the Ajax backline and once again Jurgen was there to give the goalkeeper the lead for the second time. 1 - 2.
In this period PSV was the dominant side and it was actually more waiting for a goal from PSV than from Ajax. But football is unpredictable and never goes the way you expect. Our rearguard suffered unnecessary ball loss and the drums started to drum again, the fireworks popped again and the net bulged behind Benjamin 2 - 2. A few minutes later was the moment of the number 2 of Ajax as he managed to bang the ball into the left crossbar in a truly magnificent way, unstoppable for our goalkeeper. 3 - 2. To try and get a point, we took more risks. This led to Ajax's fourth goal. Now the crowd was unstoppable and the stands were red with bengal fire. After some time the excellent referee whistled for the last time and the party could begin for Ajax. The championship was won. And we could go home empty-handed.
And so you see: all series come to an end. Unfortunately, after twelve games without defeat, today was the day. We would have liked to postpone it, but it was not to be.
Next week to the Easter tournament in Düsseldorf with opponents such as BVB Dortmund, VFB Stuttgart, Atletico Madrid and AEK Athens.
