The report
Saturday was an important match against the tough NAC from Breda. A win would have left them three points behind the leaders. But if we lost, the gap with the competition would become very large.
The home team immediately began to put high pressure on the Eindhoven defense. This meant that PSV soon had to use the long ball. In the 8th minute it was Oliver Horvath who was sent away on the right. However, his shot ended up in the hands of the goalkeeper. NAC had two great opportunities to take the lead, but PSV goalie Maxime Delanghe made two excellent saves to keep the score level. After this, PSV took the initiative again. A shot by Mathias Kjølø was tapped out of the near corner. The resulting corner ended up on the aluminum via a defender. But then suddenly NAC took the lead in the 38th minute. A cross was not well judged and could be shot in at the far post. PSV straightened their back immediately, Mees Kreekels headed in the 41st minute from a free kick by Nigel Thomas. This was also the score at halftime.
In the second half, PSV started very strong and had a lot of ball possession. However, it did not yet result in big chances. In the 68th minute, Manu Matuta took a deflected corner full on his slipper, but the leather went just over. Not much later it was Jeremy Antonisse who was brought off balance in the penalty area before he could take a shot, but the striker got the ball to Damian Timan who made it 1-2. After this the home team went all or nothing. This gave PSV some counter opportunities. In the last second of the match, the Eindhoven team got away with it. From a cross the ball hit the bar. Not much later the final signal sounded and the three important points went to Eindhoven.
