With a charged battery, after a well-deserved rest period of 3 weeks, our men were back on the training pitch for the first time last Monday. Despite the heavy snowfall, the artificial turf fields at the Herdgang looked great. From the first moment the ball started rolling again, the sparks flew. With three training sessions under their belts, a league match against Dommelen was scheduled for Saturday. Unfortunately, weather conditions prevented the match from taking place. Fortunately, a practice match against Merefeldia was arranged as an alternative. Coach Bastiaan left the coaching of this match to trainer Kristof. Trainer Bastiaan was together with trainer Willem in Barcelona for work. Upon entering the field, the physicality of the opponent was particularly striking. It did not stop the home club from looking for the attack from the kick-off. On the right side of the pitch, Yassin went off. His effort, albeit at the cost of a corner kick, could be turned by the goalkeeper. Just two minutes later it was Gregory who saw his shot go wide after a nice attack by Niels on the left side of the pitch. The visitors were also playing well and were looking for a bold attack. But it was thanks to Kyan that Merefeldia did not take the lead in the 5th minute. A quick play from the same Kyan allowed Gregory to walk alone towards the goalkeeper. The keeper was able to save and Bryan's rebound also failed to hit the target. Halfway through the first half Merefeldia got a better grip on the game. This resulted in two good chances. At the first Kyan was in the way again, but at the second opportunity he was also without a chance (0-1). In the same minute the home team erased the deficit. Jay beat the goalkeeper with a long distance shot (1-1). Which was also the score at halftime. Immediately after the break Koen unleashed a devastating shot that hit the crossbar. The 2-1 was in the air and it came. From the turn Gregory shot the ball into the top corner. PSV continued to bombard our Limburg guests with distance shots, so Davy, Sem and Bryan were close to a goal. But at the back we also had to be careful. In the 35th minute Koen had to save on the line and also hit the post. Bryan had enough and with two nice long-distance shots he decided the game (4-1). With a nicely placed header, Gregory also made his contribution (5-1). Merefeldia continued to look for a goal and this was rewarded twice in the last five minutes. In between, Yassin also managed to find the net, making the final score 6-3.
