This match was played in three 25-minute periods.
From the beginning, you could see that both sides entered the game with attacking intentions. It was an evenly matched game in the first period where PSV did have the best opportunities to score. In the first fifteen minutes, a few goal-ready chances were not exploited. This happened in the 23rd minute. An attack on the right came into the feet of Shurandy. His shot was initially turned away by the FC Twente goalkeeper. In the second instance the FC Twente goalkeeper had no chance on Shurandy's shot (0-1).
PSV tried to put more pressure on FC Twente in the second period. The first opportunity was a distance shot by Jochem from about 16 meters. However, the ball hit the post. A few minutes later, however, the score was extended. In the 32nd minute, a mistake in the FC Twente defense put the ball at Quinn's feet. This left him free in front of the goalkeeper and he shot impeccably (0-2). FC Twente then took the initiative in the match. A quick combination through the heart of PSV's defense was shot hard by an FC Twente player. Jeffrey parried the ball and prevented FC Twente from scoring the tying goal.
In the 62nd minute the tying goal did come. After a nice attack by FC Twente the ball was not well cleared by the PSV defenders. An FC Twente player seized the opportunity (1-2). FC Twente could not enjoy this for long. Two minutes later Yorbe played himself free on the left side of the field with a nice action. His cross was tapped in by Beslan (1-3). In the 69th minute PSV increased their lead. A nice, fast combination on the left between Quinn and Yorbe was tapped in by Beslan (1-4). The remaining time the game went up and down with no scoring opportunities.
This was a useful practice match. Both teams made it an attractive match.
